We believe in empowering those less fortunate with the tools to improve their lives. We do this by giving access to clean water, medicine, education and means to support themselves longterm.

Meet the Board of Directors

Paul March, MD

Organization Founder

Paul F. March is one of the organization’s founders and oversees all of it’s day-to-day operations. Paul is a physician practicing internal medicine in Zephyrhills, Florida for over 32 years. Dr. March has traveled the world extensively with his wife, Cynthia, and has training in global public health and tropical medicine. He is involved in his community through such activities as Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge, the Florida Hospital Foundation and Boy Scouts of America.

Cynthia March

Organization Founder

Cynthia L. March is a board certified respiratory therapist who has trained in both global public health and tropical medicine. Through her travels she has assisted Paul in identifying areas of need worldwide and in instituting and monitoring the various programs of Opening Doors Worldwide. She is a proud parent of 5 and plays an active role in the local chapters of the Alzheimer’s Associate, Backpacks for the Homeless and the Boy and Girl Scouts of America.

Judith Twardzik

Board Member

Judith Twardzik received her bachelor’s degree from St. Leo’s College and continued studies at University of South Florida receiving the state media specialist certificate. She has taught in Pasco County, functioned as chairman on the board of St. Petersburg Theological Seminary and was director of education in Clearwater from 1985 to 2013. She is currently on the council of Congregation Ohr Chadash in Clearwater. She is a proud parent of 3 and resides in Holiday, Florida with her husband.

Director

Michael Fike is a Florida State Certified General Contractor and a Florida State Certified Home Inspector. He along with his wife Nancy are owners of Better Built Construction Corporation and have been in business for 38 years. He is active in his church and community. He is a past president of his local Rotary Club. Michael and his wife have four grown children and five grandchildren.

Amadou Kone 

Mali Coordinator

Amadou Kone was born in the village of Ngomi Mali, the location of the recently built “Ngomi Medical Clinic.” Although he now lives with his family 10 miles away in the city of Mopti, his father is a village elder in Ngomi and much of his family still lives there. Mr. Kone was educated first in Senegal then in Ghana, where he learned English. Fluent in 11 languages, Mr. Kone has spent his life showing guests around this beautiful yet impoverished corner of the world.

Burkino Faso Coordinator

Born in Po Province, Dieudonne completed college in 2001 with training in business management. Dieudonne worked as a guide and administrator in charge of communications and marketing for the Nation Museum in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Utilizing the MBA he received from the Graduate School of Management, he created a cultural center to promote peace and development utilizing cultural activities. Dieudonne is assisting us locally in development, creating awareness of ODW in West Africa, and coordinating proposed West African-American projects.

Haileselassie Berhe

Ethiopia Coordinator

Haileselassie Berhe is a university trained archeologist with advanced degrees obtained in Switzerland. Several decades ago, he was part of the team in Ethiopia that discovered the 3.4 million year old fossils of “Lucy”, now accepted as the oldest known ancestor of humans. He lives in the city of Axum, and after retiring from archeology, he spends his time teaching English and archeology to children, as well as showing archeological sites to interested visitors to his region of Ethiopia.

Evelyn Habasa 

Uganda Coordinator

Evelyn and her husband Denis live in Buhoma, Uganda, a town adjacent to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, (the last natural habitat of the Silverback Gorillas). In 2009, they founded “Ride 4 a Woman”, an organization dedicated to empowering at-risk women in Bwindi through job creation in textiles and bicycle repairs. Evelyn is a member of the Buhoma Community Primary School, and both she and Denis work tirelessly to aid the least fortunate in their local community of Bwindi.

Robert Perry Broz Moran 

El Salvador Coordinator

Robert Perry Broz Moran is an American of Salvadorian descent, who now resides permanently with his family in the town of Suchitoto, El Salvador. There he owns and runs El Gringo Restaurant, El Gringo Hostel, and Gringo Tours. He also manages the Palo Alto Friends Meeting Educational Project, which supports formal education in El Salvador. Since 1994, Robert has dedicated his life to helping improve the lives of the local population in this poor Central American nation.
